Future Medical Practices and Software
There have been many new advancements in technology which has made many aspects of life much easier and medical practice management software is definitely one of them. We live in a time when it has never been easier to communicate, to travel from one place to another, and to just do all of the different tasks we are faced with daily. It is always a pleasure to watch movies made less then two decades ago where not one actor or actress is using a cell phone! It is easy to wonder when something else such as the cell phone will be invented that we just “don’t know how we lived without it.”
If I got a dollar every time I heard that phrase I'd be, well, rich. I'm sure everyone has heard someone say that a time or two. Our lives are in the process of becoming more simplified and less stressful. Hold on, that last thing I just said can't be correct. Even though our lives have become more simplified, they definitely have not become less stressful. Lets take a close look at this:
Just because technology simplifies one of life's tasks, it doesn't mean life gets easier and less hectic. We seem to take that little extra time we get and use it on other "stuff," thus making our lives just as hectic as before. However, if that other "stuff" as I called it earlier, is more fulfilling for us and has more of a purpose in our lives then it is definitely worth it. We become happier, and so does the "stuff" we dedicate our time to. In this case I'm talking about any medical practice.
Any medical practice has a lot of of info that it must hold on record and trying to keep it in a secure place and pinpointing it later on is not always an easy task. Patient billing information and other vital information must be kept on record and stored away so that they become easy to retrieve when needed. I'm sure you just love to hear that classic phone music as you wait on the line Now you know why the health care industry ought to make a big push on recycling their piles of paperwork and making their records digital.
If all practices started using medical billing software and emr software, the health care industry would become much more efficient. Unfortunately, not much progress has been made, especially when comparing it to, say, the banking industry. Much as been done in that industry to implement electronic records.
Now, going back to spending more time with your "stuff" example, imagine how much happier the patients and employees would be if the employees got to spend more time interacting and helping patients instead of taking time to store their records.
A medical practice would benefit from a software solution to its management process. The medical staff would be able to dedicate their time to more important things instead of wasting time with mundane tasks. In order to have a successful practice, management is the key. They would be able to dedicate more time to other "stuff," on in this case to their patients. The whole atmosphere can be changed and everyone can be happy as patients are served better and workers spend more time helping people instead of remembering people and their data. Someday, it'd be nice to see every medical practice pushing towards installing practice management software.
