Spyware is a term that describes software that is put on your computer that performs
certain tasks. (ie: changing the way your computer operates or collecting personal
information about you, then taking that information and sending it back to the website
that put this spyware on your computer in the first place!) More often than not, spyware
is usually associated with some form of advertising. The worst part is that this can
all be done without you even knowing!
How can this happen? Just surfing the internet can cause spyware to appear on your
computer. Granted, not all spyware is bad. Some we allow on our computers for a variety
of reasons. For example, some free programs you install, may state in their agreement,
that, to keep the program free you must install some form of advertisement. Whether
it be spyware or adware, it may collect information or you may have pop-ups.
Most of the time spyware can really be a problem, primarily because it can cause your
computer to slow down or even worst crash. (I’ve been there!) Another way of receiving
unwanted spyware is through downloads. Some file sharing programs are notorious for
spyware (they got me a few times using this method)lol.
So why do websites and certain programs use spyware and adware? Most of it is marketing.
(Where we shop, how much we shop, what we buy, etc.) But like I said earlier in this article
sometimes its not so bad, specially if it pays for that favorite program that you enjoy
so much. But if your just not a fan of spyware and adware, there are things you can
do to protect yourself as well as your computer.
When installing software on your computer, always read the disclosures privacy statement,
and license agreement. Alot of programs document that spyware or adware will be installed,
so get into the habit of reading the fine print,or at least giving the information
a glance. But if you just don’t want to do all that reading before installing a
program. A good spyware adware removal software is what your looking for. Here’s
some good advice someone gave me, a good removal program is one that not only
detects spyware on your computer and removes it, the software should stop it before it even gets there. For reviews and more information visit my site @ www.spywarereviewersite.com
