The new Coda Finale – upgrades that are music to your ears
Finale is the flagship program of a series of score writers, a program created by Make Music with the Coda Finale 2008 now available for purchase, which is a world leader in software for musicians and educators. Coda Finale 2008 is one of the most popular music-notation software products in the market today. Some of the most successful musicians make use of it.
Among the many music-notation programs available, this one has retained a leading role on the market by offering a multitude of high-end tools and capabilities that are just not available in other similar notation programs out there. While plenty of competing applications may be easier to learn than Coda Finale, they usually fall short of this product in a number of important areas, such as font handling, note and symbol placement, and page layout options. These qualities of Finale truly define a professional, publishing-level notation program.
The Coda family of music-notation software products includes Coda Finale, Coda Allegro, and Coda Print music. The same series of products also include SmartMusic Studio, which is the complete music practice system that features Intelligent Accompaniment and the world's largest interactive accompaniment library. For students, teachers, schools, churches and other religious organizations, as well as for non-profit organizations, Academic Editions are available for purchase, designed specifically for them.
The program will generate a default document with a 31-measure piece for a single treble clef instrument. The Setup Wizard consists of a set of dialogues that can specify instrumentation, time signature, key signature, pick-up measure, title and composer. The lead programmer for the Finale software version 1.0 created in 1988 was Phil Farrand, better known in some circles as an author of Nitpicker's Guides for Star Trek and The X-Files. He wrote the original version software for Coda Music Software, which later became Make Music.
The most advertised new feature of Finale 2006, released in the summer of 2005, was the Garritan Personal Orchestra, an integrated sound library with upgradeable selections from the Garritan Personal Orchestra for more lifelike playback. In addition to Page View and Scroll View, the 2006 release added Studio View, a new display mode. This feature offers an environment for creation, evaluation, and experimentation with different ideas in a multi-track environment, also offering full control over rubati, acceletandi and ritardandi.
Since December 2006, they have released a new version called Coda Finale 2007. The developers created a new feature that is an integrated “linked” score and part managing structure. The 2007 release also is a Universal binary, and runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. The newest version for 2008 has recently appeared on the market with improved features.
