Call of Duty sold 25 million copies

According to recent figures from the Reuters news agency, the total number of games released under the series of Call of Duty, exceeded more than 35 million copies. This is a fantastic result, given that the original shooter was released in 2003. So huge numbers may allow Activision to fight with Mario, Madden or Halo on equal terms. It is also worth while recalling that one third of the total number of copies sold belongs to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Reuters observes what games sold best in 2008. The journalists came to the conclusion that sequels remain extremely popular: Gears of War 2, Call of Duty: World at War, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Fallout 3. Still, there was a lot of original products (e.g, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space LittleBigPlanet), that could not beat continuations.
