DesktopBSD 1.6 : a new version of FreeBSD for desktops

DesktopBSD Release 1.6 is based on the second candidate to release FreeBSD 6.3 and is equipped with a graphical server X. Org 7.3 and the KDE 3.5.8 environment.
Among other changes in DesktopBSD 1.6 there are: Live CD / DVD to test the system without installing on the hard disk; a new installer with the support of updates from version 1.0 and release-candidates 1.6; improved performance of the package manager; many improvements and bug fixes in the utilities DesktopBSD; support of multi-core processors and multiprocessor systems, etc…
DesktopBSD 1.6 also includes other software packages: Amarok 1.4.7, K3B 1.0.4, 2.2.2 KTorrent, Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.11, Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.9, 2.3.1 Pidgin, VideoLAN client (VLC) 0.8.6d , digiKam 0.9.3.
OpenOffice.org 2.3.1 office, many KDE packages (such as KDE PIM and KDevelop), drivers for Gutenprint printers are available on DVD as well.
