Draft variant of HTML 5
31st January 2008
The Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has published a draft variant of the fifth version of hypertext markup language - HTML.
HTML 5 will replace the morally outdated HTML 4, the specification of which was released in 1997. The fifth version of HTML will provide developers with much more functionality and simplify the process of creating interactive websites, as well as Web applications. In addition, HTML 5 will have additional elements for interaction with various forms and the introduction of multimedia content into web pages.
Main changes in the fifth version of HTML are designed to simplify the submission of the usual elements in the code of web pages.
The project HTML 5 was developed by a special group formed in March last year. The group includes approximately five hundred participants, including specialists of such companies as Apple, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Mozilla, Nokia, Opera, BEA Systems, Cisco, France Telecom and Hewlett-Packard. W3C stresses that the published specification will be further developed and refined. Therefore, web developers and programmers are welcome to send to W3C their comments and suggestions.
