After Microsoft has taken a major and prominent step in introducing the Indic Language Input Tool, the global focus on Indianisation of computer applications has become more active and prominent. Not only the web pages, but all kinds of applications, which are being run on Windows, the software will seamlessly enable the input of Indian Language.
In the current version, this tool supports major Indian Languages including Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu. It is being expected that more Indian Languages are going to be included along with free-form transliteration, which is a syllable based conversion model. The users are going to be greatly facilitated. They will just need to enter the text in the English alphabet by spelling out the words from Indian Language in an original phonetic manner.
The purpose of the tool is to identify a suitable equivalent in the conversion of the syllables in the input text. The input of Indian Language has become easy due to the web based version, on any of the web pages and the desktop version helps in inputting the text on any of the applications running on Windows including Messenger, Notepad and Word. A visual keyboard, for manual assistance is available for both the versions.
