Frauds increase using voice phishing

The centre of FBI public relations on the cyber crimes problems warned about increasing the number of the so-called vishing attacks - a method of fraud, the primary purpose of which is the illegal obtaining of confidential data.
The method implies sending to the potential victim a e-mail on behalf of the administration online payment system, a bank or other financial institution. Recipients are requested to indicate their personal data such as account number, credit card, etc. In case of phishing, such letters would indicate a link to the site in the Internet, while vishing messages contain a phone number, which the recipient is recommended to call for confirmation personal data.
With the growing number of subscribers of IP telephony networks, vishing is also gaining popularity among criminals.
By the by, vishing was included into the list of the ten threats, which are expected to be most prevalent in the current year.
