Google Could Not Prevent Groovle.Com

The attempt, for preventing the use of the domain name of Groovle.com by a Canadian web site, has been lost by Google. The forum of National Arbitration i.e. NAF, which has been accredited by ICANN - the Internet overseer, has dismissed the complaint of Google against the domain name Groovle.com operator, which is 207 Media. This complaint had been filed by Google in the month of November 2009. There had been objection regarding the domain name of the web site by Google, and it argued that it is quite similar in a confusing way to the trademark of Google. Groovle.com had been founded by Jacob Fuller and Ryan Fitzgibbon, who both belong to Canada, in the year 2007. This particular web site gives Internet start pages, which can be used by the people for the sake of customizing them with the photos of their own.

The NAF panel, consisting of three members, had agreed with the 207 Media at the point that the domain name of that web site was sufficiently different in order to avoid any kind of confusion with the domain name Google. The panel had said in the decision it made that the domain name Groovle.com must remain with the respondent and Google can not complaint about it.
