Google Maps and Google Earth now provides weather forecasts
16th January 2008
Maps and weather, without a doubt, are the two most useful online services. Due to the new addon to Google Maps, developed by Weather Channel Interactive, users of the popular service from Google can add customizable layers with information about weather on the maps, as well as view the weather in the program Google Earth.
After adding a new layer, the maps look very alike images, which many of us are accustomed to see in weather forecasts on television: town has a cloud with information on the temperature and showing weather conditions (overcast, sunny, rain, etc.). If you point your cursor to the desired geographical object, a pop-up window appears with more detailed information, such as temperature, humidity, wind speed.
The addon from the Weather Channel Interactive can be found in the department of Featured Content of the utility My Maps in Google Maps and data on weather are displayed in a separate layer on Google Earth.
