Hackers widely use the Murder of Pakistan`s Prime Minister
9th January 2008
Nowadays it is a common practice that the authors of malicious code use significant events in the world to attract attention to their software. The latest burst of spreading malicious codes, found in recent days, is linked to the murder of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bkhutto.
The company McAfee announced several sites where hackers offer users to download videos with the details of the incident. At trying to download a video a message occurs with a proposal to download codecs for its viewing. Once the user agrees to download 'codecs', the computer downloads a malicious program, the main purpose of which is to steal personal data. The situation is complicated by the fact that some of the sites containing links to malicious videos are located fairly high in the search results for the word Benazir in Google.
