Jumping Of Border Into Digital Books Fray
24th January 2010
The bookstore chain, Borders Group, has been criticized by some for being too late to enter in the world of digital books and readers market. This group has not teamed up with fledging Kobo Inc, in order to set up an online store for mobile devices by the second quarter of 2010. This group has been losing its readers to its rival Barnes & Noble Inc. now this group has planned to integrate a new online store with its own website, Borders.com.
A spinoff of Indigo Books & Music Inc, Kobo that has been providing books to the customers, living in more than 200 countries, has also decided to host a separate e-book store, which will cater multiple mobile devices. From the Palm Inc Pre and Apple Inc I-phone to Research in Motion Ltd`s Blackberry and cell phones, which are being run on the Android operating system of Google Inc.
Borders does not have its own e-reader, but still it prefers to sell the devices of Sony in its stores. And the company still pays sheer concentration and attention to remain device agnostic, whereas many analysts have criticized the company for not making its plans clear and not moving ahead in the rapidly growing market.
