The latest version of Linux-kernel offers a number of interesting innovations.
One of them is the file system Ext4, having replaced Ext3, which become more stable. Besides, they added a long-expected GEM Memory Manager for GPU, the basis for an updated graphic stack.
Linux 2.6.28 supports Ultra Wide Band (Wireless USB, UWB-IP) and network protocol Nokia Phonet, as well as x2APIC. There are several improvements in scalability and performance of memory management, boot tracer. There are also a number of improvements for laptops.
