Office 2008 for Mac OS X
24th January 2008
At the MacWorld 2008 exhibition, the beginning of selling Office 2008 was announced, a new version of Microsoft`s office package for Mac OS X. It is the first time that the new version of Office for Macs was presented less than one year after the release of the version for PC.
Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac is the first version of the package compatible with both PowerPC and computers based on Intel processors. Among the innovations there is the support of the Open XML format.
To make versions of Office for Windows and for Mac OS similar, the same graphics engine is used. In addition, the interface for Macs has much in common with that for Windows. However, as in its previous versions, Office for Mac has some features not available for Windows. Thus, the program gets more preferable to be used under Apple`s machines. Office 2008 is available in three versions: Home and Student Edition for $ 150, Standard Edition for $ 400 and Special Media Edition for $ 500. All versions of the office package include the programs of World, Excel and PowerPoint, while Standard Edition also offers Entourage, and Special Media Edition even provides Expression Media.
