Initially, only five movies are going to be available on rent. The movies are going to come from the Sundance Film Festival of 2009 and 2010 and these films will be only available in US.
This move for the Google owned company is going to boost up its bottom line and it is being considered as the firm`s major development. According to the principal analyst at Gartner Research, Mike McGuire, this move is going to be a huge and significantly important move for the firm, in order to monitise the site. The doors for bigger movie studio are going to be opened due to this step.
Taking the cut of the revenue, the content prices are going to be settled by the content providers with YouTube. One of the Sundance films is being offered for $3.99 each for the users to watch it over a 48-hour viewing period. This is the site, which has been best known for its user-generated content including performing cats and dogs on the skateboards, ahs said that 20 hours of video is being uploaded every minute.
