Samsung: beware of our photo frames!
18th January 2009
X-mas and New Year are almost over, but cyber criminals are still doing their best to take advantage of people`s will to give presents, reports PC World. For example, Samsung Electronics said that CD-disks and software delivered with certain models of digital photo frames may contain a trojan program, which allows getting remote access to your computer.
This Trojan, known as W32.Sality.AE, is located in the app of Samsung Frame Manager 1.08 for Windows XP. Users of computers under Windows Vista, can not beware of the trojan. In addition, the trojan of W32.Sality.AE has long been known to experts on computer security and, thus, is sure to be found by a majority of rather good anti-virus applications. According to information received from representatives of Samsung, compact discs containing the malicious code may be supplied with digital photo frames of the models SPF-75H, SPF-76H, SPF-85H, SPF-85P, SPF-105P. In order to protect you from infection with W32.Sality.AE, Samsung strongly recommends users to use an updated version of the application of Frame Manager XP, which can be downloaded from the official site of the company.
