According to DisplaySearch, which is a market research firm, the shipments of the LCD TV have somewhat managed to increase in the year 2009 globally, despite of the fact that there have been worst recession of the economy in decades. The shipments of the sets of the flat panel, which makes for the majority of the sales of TV, will be increasing 1 percent from year to year and in the year 2009 it went to 140.5 million units as said by DisplaySearch. There are seen driving sales in China and the people over there are replacing their old CRT TVs with these new ones, and also the great declines of the prices in North America as well as in Western Europe. For many of the screens the prices have gone down from 20 percent to 30 percent from year to year in 2009, with the average price of the LCD TV overall falling 24 percent, which is considered to be the double rate of decline as was in the year 2008.

Paul Gagnon, who is the researcher at DisplaySearch has said in one statement that the declining prices are greatly influencing the robust kind of demand, but it comes at the profitability expense of many of the supply chains, especially at the level of reseller and of brand.
