Updated version of Service Pack for Vista
18th January 2008
Microsoft has released an updated release-candidate version of the first service pack for Windows Vista.
The public version of SP1 for Windows Vista was presented by Microsoft at the end of last year. On the whole, the service pack contains more than 300 corrections and improvements. Improvements and additions affect a variety of the platform components - from supporting hardware and reliability to security and synchronization with future Windows Server 2008. Service Pack traditionally includes patches for vulnerabilities identified and corrections, enhancing the system performance.
According to eWeek, the updated version of the service pack was granted the status of Windows Vista SP1 RC Refresh. The package is available only to a limited group of testers, which includes corporate customers, vendors of software and hardware, as well as some individual developers, and enthusiasts.
Microsoft plans to release a final modification of the service pack for Windows Vista in the current quarter. However, the exact date of the release will entirely depend on the test results.
