Wading Of FFC Through Net Neutrality Comments
24th January 2010
Influx of files from technology and communication companies, industry lobbying groups and consumer advocates has flooded the Federal Communications Commission on Thursday. A sea of paperwork has been created due to the Thursday`s deadline for the officials of FCC. These officials are already scrambled to complete a massive report detailing plans for a national broadband policy, due to Congress in March. The deadline has already been pushed back from mid February.
A little surprise has been offered due to the comments, which were submitted on Friday. Skype, along with several consumer advocates Free Press and the Open Internet Coalition, consisting of many technology companies including Amazon, Skype and Google are in favor of establishing Net neutrality rules. According to most of the network operators including AT&T, it is good to keep the Net open, but there is no need of keeping the rules, for they consider them as unnecessary ones.
CTIA, the industry group, which represents the wireless industry, has said that such rules are inappropriate and unnecessary. It is being expected that two major companies, Verizon and Google are going to be teemed up once again, in order to jointly file comments to inform the commission on the areas, where both these firms share common grounds and will talk about various issues such as encouraging innovation and investment of broadband networks and providing users with information.
