Wii may become strongest competitor to Japanese TV

Recently it was reported that Nintendo plans to launch in Japan a new service that will allow buying and downloading special video shows, created specifically for distributing via Wii. Of course, the manufacturer is preparing to broadcast acommercials in the same way. This fact bothers Japanese television extremely.
A representative of Fuju Television, for example, stated that if Wii becomes a “center of the living room”, it would be a sheer ordeal for television. Given the specific approach to creating the content, exclusive materials and availability of Wii can turn it into a strong competitor for TV in the search for advertising budgets.
