Computer games, movies or books - what will possess minds in the future?
3rd February 2009
Chris Swain, a professor assistant in the USC School of Cinematic Arts is working on the question whether we can consider video games as literature of the 21st century. He thinks, the answer to the question can be found only by broad-minded. That is, we have to think not only in the present, but also in the future.
Games have already surpassed not only literature, but also movies, in a way. At least in the sphere of music accompanying. For instance, the radio in GTA 4 allows gamers to choose a soundtrack depending on the circumstances and their own mood. Here radio talks not so much with an avatar but with a player himself.
So, maybe in 10-20 years we will consider games our main entertainment and consider movies as a kind of archaic thing.
