CryEngine will be adopted for Xbox 360 and PS 3
14th February 2008
Crytek has officially announced that the engine CryEngine 2 will be compatible with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It is this technology that became the basis for Crysis, a high-tech shooter, sold for PC in not so great number. Special console versions of the engine will be shown behind closed doors during Game Developers Conference 2008 (February, 18-22).
It should be recalled, that earlier the engine CryEngine was said to be requiring so much of system resources that it could simply not run under consoles. Meanwhile, according to Crytek, the company will show a special optimized for consoles version of its tropical engine. This technology can run under any “budget computer” (of about $ 600).
