Cyber-criminals attack users of IE 7
28th February 2009
Security experts from the company Trend Micro warn of a new wave of hacker attacks aimed at users of Internet Explorer.
It is reported, that this time hackers exploit a gap in the seventh version of IE, the patch for which was released by Microsoft about a week ago. The problem concern an error in the browser when trying to access previously deleted objects. The gap theoretically allows an attacker to take complete control over victim`s PC.
According to Trend Micro, hacker began sending e-mails with an attached document in the format .doc, containing an exploit for the vulnerability in IE. When you try to view the file, malicious components are loaded to your machine, opening «back door» to the system. Then attackers can execute arbitrary operations on a victim's computer.
The experts recommend that all users install the patch via the Microsoft`s services of Windows Update, as well as directly from the site of the corporation.
