First draft version of HTML 5
12th February 2008
The first draft version of HTML 5 has been published. This is the first major update of the language for more than 10 years.
The new version of the standard is being developed by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) HTML Working Group. It includes 500 people, including representatives of such well-known companies as AOL, Apple, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Mozilla, Nokia and Opera. At the core of HTML 5 innovations lay changes that have taken place in the Internet in recent years. HTML 5 is supposed to edit documents on-line. Much attention will be paid to standards, compatibility, interacting with new Web-programming languages and new audio and video-content on web pages. In addition, the developers promise detailed instructions on how to correct errors.
It is assumed that the final version of HTML 5 will be presented in 2010.
