Google fixes error with IMAP support in Gmail
14th February 2008
Google has made changes to realizing the support of the IMAP protocol in its email service Gmail.
The support of IMAP (Internet Mail Access Protocol) appeared in Gmail in October 2008. Compared with POP3, the IMAP protocol has several advantages, in particular, it allows several client programs to work with the same mailbox and interact with folders on the server, transmitting to the local computer information on their names and locations of letters in them. In doing so, you may create shared folder for several users.
However, shortly after the implementation of the IMAP support in Gmail, users began sending complaints that when working through the protocol under portable devices with Windows Mobile, they have some problems. In particular, the mail service Gmail won`t display the contents of letters, and in some cases it is impossible to even read the headlines.
However, PC World reports, now the problem is fixed. Users do not need to take any action because the update affects only the server part of Gmail.
