Microsoft denies critics addressed to UAC
22nd February 2009
Microsoft gave a respond to the public criticism of Users Account Control (UAC) in Windows. A Microsoft representative said that the company does not classify this problem as a serious security vulnerability.
He said that the UAC system by default is configured in such a way that users do not receive notifications of changes in their OS settings.
The whole situation was born by a blogger under the nick Long Zheng, who said that UAC notifications can be well bypassed or disabled by means of a malicious code. However, Microsoft also argues that it can represent danger only if an attacker already has a certain level of access to a computer.
