New version of PostgreSQL DBMS

An international team of PostgreSQL developers has released a new version of the same name object-relational database management system (RDBMS).
In PostgreSQL 8.3 they realized a lot of innovations aimed at improving the stability and performance of the work, and also simplifying the processes of Server administration. Among the major changes the developers mark out the tools of automated self-adjustment of the background record process, asynchronous commitment of transactions and Spread Checkpoints system which allow you to lower the activity on the processing of control points during the peak periods. At the same time, they improved the means of search and recovery, and also enhanced the ability to interact with large databases.
PostgreSQL 8.3 version supports ANSI SQL/XML standard (including export XML), and also compound data types. The team of Windows-developers of PostgreSQL had realized the opportunity of compilation in Visual C++ environment, which improves the stability and performance of computers running under Microsoft software platforms. In addition, new DBMS comprises approximately 280 patches and updates that increase the code quality.
