Silverlight for Linux begins working
27th February 2009
The technology Silverlight Beta, developed by Microsoft, appeared for Linux under the name of Moonlight at the end of last year. However, the developers argue that Moonlight 1.0 appeared only on the 20th of January.
Moonlight 1.0 can be downloaded in the form of extensions for Firefox 2 or 3. Now the developers are testing the second version of Silverlight for Linux. According to the authors, the new version is very well optimized, thus, it is more competitive.
Microsoft initially positioned Silverlight as another Adobe Flash killer, but so far it leaves much to be desired. Users and companies are not willing to move to this product. So, the “killer” so far looks like a trembling rabbit.
