28th February 2008
Microsoft Corporation has published the notice that some applications may cease to function under computers with Windows Vista after installation of the first service pack for the operating system.
The announcement states that Windows Vista with SP1 blocks work of a number of third party programs. These are packages of BitDefender AV, Jiangmin KV Antivirus, Trend Micro Internet Security, Zone Alarm Security Suite and Fujitsu Shock Sensor.
Some of the third-party developers have already offered a way to solve the problem by releasing the appropriate patches.
In addition, Microsoft point out that the installation of the first service pack for Windows Vista may result in the fact that some programs will stop running or partially lose functionality. The list of such products includes: Rising Personal Firewall, Novell ZCM Agent, Iron Speed Designer and others.
The first Service Pack for Windows Vista went into production about four weeks ago. It includes more than 300 amendments and additions affecting a variety of components of the operating system. Distribution of the service pack via Windows Update will begin on March, 18. First, SP1 will be available in five languages: English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese. Subsequently, Microsoft will issue additional localized versions of the service pack.
