Ubuntu Launchpad opens its code
3rd February 2009
The web-application of Launchpad, used on the same site by the Ubuntu project for developing this popular Linux-distribution, is to be opened very soon. The source code is planned to be released on July, 21 this year.
Launchpad consists of several components, the combination of which forms a complete solution for easy management of software development. Among these components being: Code (hosting of the source code with the Bazaar control system), Bugs (bug-tracking), Blueprints (tracking specifications and new features), Translations (localizing applications), Answers (knowledge base for technical support of users).
Launchpad has always been criticized because it refused to open its source code. Now the developers decided to correct this mistake.
