YouTube is banned in Pakistan
29th February 2008
The governments of Muslim and Asian countries have never been really sick with love for YouTube. This postulate has recently been proved in Pakistan once more. The government of this country has blocked access to the popular video-service as it posted anti-Islamic trailers. Last week, 70 Pakistani Internet providers received a notice prohibiting access to YouTube until further notice.
The ban is linked to the trailer of the movie, by Dutch legislator Geert Wilders, in which he wants to show Islam as a fascist religion, provoking violence against women and homosexuals.
The duration of the freezing would depend solely on the actions taken by YouTube - Pakistani users were welcome to send requests for deleting the problematic trailer from the service.
