“Smart” glasses for daydreamers
31st March 2008
“Smart” glasses are created in Japan to help scattered people in search for lost things. The novelty was developed by means of specialists from the School of Information Science and Technology, University of Tokyo, reports Times Online.
The device is called Smart Goggle and its appearance reminds glasses for snowboarders. There is a tiny camera attached on the left side of the glasses, and on the right there is a small screen. While a user roams the room in which he lost some object, a video camera keeps recording everything that comes in his view. Then the scattered owner must inform miracle glasses what exactly he is looking for. The special software processes the video recorded and finds a fragment, showing the required object. Then the video clip gets to the display, and the owner only has to come to the right place and get the lost thing.
The experimental model of Smart Goggle is somewhat cumbersome, and therefore not very suitable for everyday wear. However, the developers promise to create a miniature model in the future, which in appearance will be no different from ordinary glasses.
