5th version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux has been released

Red Hat Company has presented officially the fith version of its famous product - OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The development of Red Hat Enterprise Linuz 5 took 2 years. Initially they scheduled that the programm platform will be released in the end of the last year. But creation of the product was delayed, and the version was produced only about one and half month ago. And now in March 14 Red Hat, at last, announced final modification of operation system. One of the main differences of Red Hat Linux 5 from previous versions of programm platform is the availability of XEN virtualization means. Thanks to this tooling users can launch on the same computer several copies of operation system at once. By the way, the very virtualization became one of the reasons of delaying the product release. With the announce of the fith version of operation system Red Hat Company changes the marking of distribution disks. Earlier server variants of programm platform beared indexes AS and ES. Now the basic version of operation system will named just Red Hat Enterprise Linuz 5, and variant with widened abilities will be Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Advanced Platform. The new operation system supports modern 32- and 64-bite processors, including new chips Intel Xeon with four cores. To distribution disk are included the vast amount of additional applications and dedicated means. For installation of programm platform one would need 1,82 Gb space on HDD, but in minimum configuration the operation system would occupy only 300 Mb on Winchester drive. The most inexpensive reduction of Red Hat Enterprise Linuz 5 will cost buyers $350 together with standart support. Twenty-four-hour support will cost $1300 a year. Version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Advanced Platform is sold at the prise of $1500.
