Acid3: Opera 9.5 gets ahead of all its rivals
17th March 2008
The organization of Web Standards Project, created in 1998 to help web-developers to test their products for compliance with the latest online-standards, the other day updated its popular Acid test to help anyone trying to test their browser. Acid3 consists of the following specifications: DOM2 Core, DOM2 Events, DOM2 HTML, DOM2 Range, DOM2 Style, DOM2 Traversal, DOM2 Views, ECMAScript, HTML4, HTTP, Media Queries, Selectors, XHTML 1.0, CSS2, CSS2.1, CSS3 Color , CSS3 UI, data: URIs and SVG.
The Internet now provides test versions of all leading browsers, coming to a new stage of competition. Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3.0, Opera 9.5 and Safari 3 in the near future are going to begin fighting for users, but meanwhile, the portal of Softpedia held interesting studies by running Acid3 at IE 8 Beta 1, Firefox 3.0 Beta 3, Safari 3 Public Beta and Opera 9.5 Beta. First, we`d like to point out that during the test defaults settings were used. The most relevant to the standards browser are: Opera has been (64 out of 100 points), Firefox 3.0 (59 out of 100), Safari 3 (39 points). The last place belongs to IE8, 17 points - Microsoft has much to think about.
