Apple and Google are looking for partners to promote their telephones
30th March 2007
Apple, having announced iPhone in June, is looking for European partners to sell the product on the continent. Meanwhile, Google is also negotiating with the British operator O2; recently, the search giant indirectly acknowledged that they develop their own phone, reports Marketwatch. iPhone is supposed to appear in Europe almost immediately after the release in the United States, and the partnership agreement will be concluded before the end of the year. While promoting the product into the European market Apple will have to face at least one challenge: Europeans habit to buy cellphones for half price, making a contract with the telecoms operator. Without operator-partner it will be quite hard to sell the product for $ 500. GPhone, as an anticipated cell phone from Google has been already called, is likely to be developed jointly with Samsung. It will have a new operating system optimized for access to the internet. Now we can speak about just rumours, but Google`s interest for mobile Internet can be seen in the recent update of the mobile search site, reports Arstechnica
