Catalyst Graphics Driver Gets Updated By AMD
16th March 2010
The updates have been introduced by the Advanced Micro Devices for the graphics driver of its ATI Catalyst that is meant for improving the performance of the ATI Radeon GPU for the games that are running on it. Its first update, whose version is 10.2, is now available and the second version is 10.3 has been scheduled to be launched during the month of March. The short time duration which is between the releases of these versions shows the strategy of the AMD for providing the updates of the regular driver in order to provide the boosts for the incremental performance to the Radeon graphics processor.
The version 10.2 changes the way that how Catalyst handles the profiles of the game, which has made it possible for the AMD to offer one separate executable file on its web site. This file would give optimal performance for the new game. Also, it has been made possible by the update that now we can apply the CrossFireX multi-GPU technology of AMD when the customers of Radeon would be running multiple display, which is a feature of AMD and is called the Eyefinity. The version 10.3 shows the first Catalyst update for the month that AMD plans to release for the laptops of Windows Vista and Windows 7 which feature the graphics processors of the ATI mobility Radeon HD 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 series.
