Firefox 3.5 instead of Firefox 3.1
31st March 2009
Fans of the web browsers from Mozilla never saw the final version of Firefox 3.1.
The previous version of Mozilla Firefox 3.0 was released in mid 2008. According to the original plan, version 3.1 (code-named Shiretoko), should have gone out in the same year. However, the development was delayed, and the release was postponed to mid-2009. Some time ago, the developers found that the new version had too many improvements and new features and decided to assign to the product a new number. So, instead Firefox 3.1 will be replaced to Firefox 3.5.
The key innovation of Firefox 3.1 is the increased speed of visualizing Web pages, achieved through changes in the Gecko engine. Another interesting development is the engine TraceMonkey, increasing JavaScript scenarios` performance.
We do not know when Mozilla is going to release the final version of the product.
