IE 8: first beta
16th March 2008
Microsoft Corporation within the MIX conference in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) has released the first beta version of Internet Explorer 8.
Compared with IE 7, the new version of the browser by Microsoft has evolved significantly. First of all, there is a new feature called Activities. Through the contextual menu, called by the right-mouse button, the user can quickly perform different actions with the objects on the web page, for example, to add material to the site Digg.com, to convert a text fragment, to search in the Internet and so on. Another notable innovation has become the feature of WebSlices. This system is something like RSS-streams, allowing users to be notified of any changes on selected pages.
Internet Explorer 8 has improved Favourites bar, as well as an anti-phishing filter with expanded opportunities. Security means of Automatic Crash Recovery is also worth mentioning.
The beta version of Internet Explorer 8 is meant, primarily, for developers and enthusiasts. The browser can be installed on the machines running under Windows XP with the second service pack, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003.
You can download the beta version of Internet Explorer 8 from the official site of Microsoft Corporation.
