In February spam level reached 90.3%

The SoftScan company announced the record spam level registered in February. Antispam systems identified approximately 90.3% of all emails in the Internet as spam - it is the highest level ever registered by SoftScan. The representatives of the company believe,that this February index only demonstrated once again a high level of spammers activity, who just blunted users vigilance by relatively calm beginning of the year (in January this level was about 40%). The largest number of spam traditionally occures on weekend , for instance, on one of February saturdays spam has reached a record level of 96.22%. A similar case occurred only in November 2006, when the rate of spam was 89.73%. SoftScan also published february statistics of virus activity. During the month viruses level became a half larger, but still made up only 0.76% of the checked messages. On the first place there are phishing modules which are going to have brilliant future, as leading IT security specialists believe. In the meantime,phishers efforts form 72.36% of the total number of the detected harmful objects. The second place is being taken by the branch of viruses, Trojan Downloader (16.23%), mostly due to the new wave of virus modifications "Storm Worm".
