Kicking out IE from Windows 7
30th March 2009
Now you can get rid of the famous browser. The point is that build 7048 offers an opportunity to completely remove Internet Explorer 8 from the system. It is the first time that Microsoft “permits” such a thing since 1997, when IE was embedded into the system tightly.
The software giant has always said that the browser is just part and parcel of the OS and it is impossible to remove it. This build shows new opportunities: you can remove not only iexplore.exe, but also absolutely all components of the browser.
It may be assumed that this feature was a mere result of hidden struggle between IE and such the rest of the browsers, like Opera and Firefox.
