Microsoft prepares Windows Server netbook-version
17th March 2009
Microsoft is planning to release a reduced modification of the operating system Windows Server, mean to be used in low-cost low-power servers.
The future software platform was called a “netbook version” of Windows oriented on servers. Microsoft representatives said that in the financial crisis environment corporate customers are just trying to save on just anything. So having paid $500 for a basic server they would hardly want to pay other $500 for the operating system.
In general, the software giant did not go into details about the new OS. The only thing they said was that the system will be cheap and, so to speak, short of features. The platform will be called Windows Server Foundation Edition, and its official presentation is to be held in one or two months.
Looking forward!
