Oracle: quarterly sales grew up to $4.4 billion

Oracle sales in the third quarter has been increased to $ 4.4 billion in comparison with the same period of last year; at the market for business-applications the company managed to reduce the gap between itself and the larger rival, SAP. Sales of new licenses for database management system and intermediate software have been increased by 17% to $ 967 millions, new licenses for the business-application by 57% to $ 423 millions. SAP in the last quarterly report (October-December 2006) has only 7% growth in sales of application licenses. “Though SAP is still larger than Oracle at the market of business-applications, we are reducing the gap quickly and confidently”, commented Charles Phillips, Oracle president The profit in comparison with the third quarter of the last year has been increased by 35%, to $ 1 billion, also due to increase in sales of software by 25%, to $ 3.5 billion. “This quarter is much stronger than the previous one”, said the president. The profit of services, in particular, On Demand, has been increased by 52%, and consulting services had brought to company 38% more than at the same period of the last year, reports Computing.co.uk.
