16th March 2010
According to the organizers, it has been proved by a simulated cyberattack on U.S, which was of large scale that the country is not actually prepared for any real attack. In one press release, the Bipartisan Policy Center, who is the organizer of the Cyber Shockwave by using some group of the former officials of the government and the computer simulations, has concluded that the United States has not been prepared for the cyber threats.
Michael Chertoff, who is the former secretary of the Homeland Security and who had chaired the council of the simulated Nation Security, has said that the cyberterrorism must be treated as one threat of the sufficient seriousness which they give the priority attention to that as is being given to weapons of the mass destruction. By the fact, the cyberterrorism is considered to be more complicated in nature as it involves each of the individual as said by Chertoff. He further said that any person who has one smartphone with him and downloads any application or gets one on the PC is actually engage in this kind of process.
The reports from those who has witnessed this simulation has indicated that the defenders of the United States had some problems in the identification of the source of the simulated attack, which as a return made it quite difficult for taking any actions.
