The console population explosion

According to the new research of Nielsen, the number of families in the United States using television, who have games console averaged at the end of 2006 about 45.7 million, that is 18.5% more than at the end of 2004. With all this the growth of televiewers was only 1.6%. At least 148 million people in the United States have access to the game console at home, and that is only 52% of the total TV population. The main audience is males between the ages of 18 and 34 years, two thirds of whom have console. Considerably increased the popularity of on-line services - during a year 4.4 million families were added to them, taking into consideration that the data were collected before launching of services for consoles Wii and PlayStation 3. More than third of the total TV population in the United States (93.8 million people) had at least played one minute per three months and on average is it was not less than 2 hours a day. The most “gaming” category are men between 18 and 34 years, which averaged 16 million (48.2%). The second place belongs to boys from 2 to 11 years - almost 13 million, but in percentage at least 74% of all children once for the quarter have played at the console. Women between 18 and 34 years are on the third position - about 12 million.
