Vista is being sold twice better than XP

From January 30 till February 28 of 2007 the range of sales of OS Microsoft Windows Vista amounted to over 20 million copies. This is twice higher than the sales of its predecessor, Windows XP, amounted after two months to 17 million copies. The company connects the success of the new OS with the interest of users in the high-security of Vista and also in its new capabilities. Besides, Microsoft noted that the increased interest in the new OS has arisen due to closer work with partners - PC developers. “Working with our partners, we are helping customers use new tools for rapid transition to a new soft”, - said Bill Veghte, the vice-president of Microsoft. Let`s remember that the most leading manufacturers equip their computers with preinstalled Windows Vista, among them Dell, HP and others. But the experts are not inclined to appreciate the situation so optimistically. According to Michael Silver`s opinion, the vice-president of Gartner, the increase in sales of Vista is primarily due to the significant increase in sales of PCs, AP reported. At the time of release of Windows XP in 2002, about 51 million PCs were sold per year, while as predicted, in 2007 this figure can reach 96 millions. Prices for distribution disks of new Windows vary from $ 100 (upgrade to Home Basic) till $ 400 (complete version of Ultimate). Most of the users are likely to pay $ 160 it is the very cost of a license for Home Premium for those who already have a license for Windows XP. Analysts of IDC suggest that 90% of PCs that are sold to home users around the world in 2007 will be equipped with one of the versions of Windows Vista Home. With Vista Home Basic being the dominant operating system for consumer PCs: it will be installed on two of every three new systems.
