VMShield 2.0: ensuring security of virtual machines
24th March 2009
The company Catbird Networks released an updated version of VMShield 2.0.
This is an excellent tool to ensure full security of virtual machines in the corporate data processing centers. It can cope with a number of typical tasks. So, VMShield allows administrators to determine which applications can interact with a virtual machine, to effectively distribute workload, etc…
The product of VMShield has intelligent mechanisms of analysis and filtering data packs, which the virtual machine exchanges with other applications. When it detects suspicious activity, the system can automatically send a compromised machine into quarantine.
Users of the new version of VMShield 2.0 are sure to appreciate a mechanism called V-Tracker, responsible for assigning a unique identifier for each virtual machine and allowing you to monitor VM movements between physical servers. This approach guarantees inviolability of policies applicable for specific virtual machines, even if the latter was transfer to another server.
