Weak point is found in Windows Vista.
3rd March 2007
The first serious defect was found in Windows Vista, released on 30 January. TechWorld reports, that the weak point, refers to a set of security UAC. The UAC system (User Account Control) allows administrators of corporate networks to manage staff access to office computers. The UAC, in particular, starts plug-ins in Windows Vista with the least advantages, to prevent possible damage which can be caused by harmful software. The “gap” in UAC was found by specialists of eEye company. For security reasons, details of the defect are kept in secret. All that is known is that a local user can take advantage of it. However, the remote user can also do it, if already has access to the computer. The company eEye had informed Microsoft of this flaw on 19 January already, but no patch has been released so far. Though, Microsoft assures that no case of practical “using” of this defect has been registered yet..
