WordPress turns out into social network

The developer of WordPress has recently pointed out in his personal blog that, in his oint of view, the blog-service of WordPress.com should evolve in the direction of social networks. Apparently, this was the very purpose of the creator of the BuddyPress social network joining to the administration of WordPress.com.
Thus, BuddyPress becomes the official product of the Automattic company, which owns WordPress.com service. Currently the site of BuddyPress is blocked and its main page contains the Automattic logo.
By the way, WordPress.com now is the basis of more than 2.6 million blogs which every day post more than 100 thousand publications, reports TechChurch.com.
