9th April 2007
Once popular VGA and DVI standards are taken gradually back seat. Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) officially gave DisplayPort 1.1 interface a status of a new industry standard, which very soon will be adopted by the leading manufacturers of flat LCD-panels, projectors, PCs and household appliances. One of the main advantages of the new standard is the support of High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) 1.3 technology, which allows you to protect the multimedia data filling which are distributed on Blu-ray and HD DVD mediums. Among other advantages of DisplayPort interface is the significantly increased speed (up to 10.8 Hbit / sec) of data transfer, in comparison with Dual Link DVI, and also compact connector, which resembles by its shape and size a standard USB connector, http://www.betanews.com notes.
