Eyeballing Game: test your eyes on accuracy!
26th April 2009
Eyeballing Game: test your eyes on accuracy! Canadian woodworker and inventor, Matthias Wandel invented a simple but very exciting and useful test-game meant to test your ability to measure distance. Now, any Internet users can visually assess how strong their skills are in accurate estimate of geometric figures.
For visitors` attention Eyeballing Game offers a series of 4 types of tasks. In each task the user must accurately bisect the triangle, mark the point equidistant to the edges in it, find the convergence point of three rays, try to make a parallelogram out of the square, find the middle distance between two points or find the center of the circle. To perform you need to determine the desired point with the mouse.
If you were quite diligent at school, it will be quite easy to perform the task, but the lack of measuring instruments and plotting tools will make you sweat. After finishing each task the game shows on how many units you are mistaken. At the end of task series the game displays statistics of your mistakes. Minimum error is the best possible result, but it`s almost unreal to achieve it. In addition, you can assess how much your results are different from the average over the past 10 thousand passed tests. Try to test your eye on game`s page. With other works of Mathias Wandel, which mainly relate to the various handicrafts made of wood and technologies of home-processing of wood can be found in his personal website.
